5 bells - tenor weight 10-1-20 in G |
|
| The unique set of four pre-Reformation bells which probably represent the oldest ring in Essex, were augmented in 1996 with the addition of a treble in memory of George Eve, a former Secretary and Life Vice-President of the Association. |

The church is some distance from the village centre. Take the Ingatestone road from the village centre and the lane to the church is signposted on the left just as you leave the village. There is a car park at the end of the lane just before the level crossing - there is no parking on the opposite side. The level crossing is barrier controlled and the barriers can be down for as long as 10 minutes when as many as five trains will cross. Wave nicely to the signalmen via the CCTV and they may let pedestrians quickly cross. Margaretting has one of the finest examples of Essex wooden towers. Pevsner quotes ".. its splendid 15th century tower on 10 posts (like Blackmore) .. is one of the great timber-framed Essex belfries, made entirely of wood of two stages externally and three internally".
There is a ringing web page for Margaretting which can be found here |
